Picovoice software is built with an emphasis on privacy, and privacy is a value Picovoice endeavours to protect in every aspect of its business. Below, you will find the Picovoice Website Privacy Policy, with information regarding the personal data that Picovoice collects about visitors, users of, or in relation to any other website it operates (“Websites”), and about end-users of the voice interfaces created through the Websites and integrating Picovoice technology or otherwise provided by Picovoice (“Voice Interfaces”), how Picovoice uses those personal data, who Picovoice shares them with, and your rights in relation to them.

How does Picovoice collect and use your personal data?

Picovoice collects the following personal data about you when you interact with its Websites and Voice Interfaces.

If you visit one of the Picovoice Websites

If you visit a Website, Picovoice may collect technical information such as information about your interaction with the pages of the Website (scrolling, clicking, etc.) or the type of operating system you are using, and your IP address.

Picovoice needs this information in order to make the Website available to you and to improve the Website. The legal bases for this are that such personal data is required in order for Picovoice to provide you with the service you requested, as well as Picovoice legitimate interest in optimising your experience and the Website’s performance.

Picovoice may also collect personal data through cookies, in accordance with its Cookie Policy and applicable cookie regulations.

If you create an account on one of Picovoice Websites

If you create an account on a Website, Picovoice may collect:

  • personal information you provide, such as your email, your username, your IP address, the name and description you give your Apps, and your GitHub account information (including your primary email address and ID) if you connect it to the Console. The wake words or intents you create on the Website or the content you add to your Apps or their descriptions might also contain personal data if you include any, but you are free to include as much or as little personal information as you wish in these fields;
  • an identifier for your account;
  • information about whether or not you are a professional or non-professional user of the Website and your intended use of the Picovoice Software and/or Services; Picovoice may consider you to be a professional user if you sign up with a professional email address (for example, if you sign up with an address "[email protected]") or if you indicate your intention to use the Website in a professional capacity on the Website;
  • technical information, logs and timestamps related to your use of your account.

Picovoice may use this information to:

  • improve the Website; the legal basis for this is Picovoice legitimate interest in optimising your experience and the Website’s performance;
  • administer your account and allow you to benefit from the service you requested, in accordance with Picovoice Website Terms of Use; the legal basis for this is the performance of the contract between you and Picovoice.
  • identify fraudulent conduct; the legal basis for this is Picovoice legitimate interest in preventing and detecting fraud and enforcing its Terms of Use;
  • contact you regarding potential business opportunities, products, and news (to the extent you sign up for Picovoice newsletter). The legal basis for this is Picovoice legitimate interest in communicating with its business prospects and customers about its news, products, and services.
  • if you are a professional user, better understand your use of your account and the Website and tailor Picovoice communications with you on that basis. The legal basis for this is Picovoice legitimate interest in developing its relationship with its business prospects and customers.
  • keep track of its interactions, analyze and enrich its relationship with its prospects and customers, and conduct reporting on its sales activities, including via a CRM software.   • communicate with prospects and customers with a view to processing orders, conclude agreements, and follow the performance of contracts. The legal basis for this processing is the performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures between you and Picovoice;

  • Picovoice may collect heartbeat data (a unique identifier and a timestamp, “Heartbeat Data”) for license monitoring and fraud prevention purposes on certain platforms, unless If You are a professional user and explicitly choose to opt-out of the collection of Heartbeat Data.

If you interact with Picovoice via email or an online form

If you send Picovoice an email or otherwise interact with Picovoice (for instance, via an online form to Contact Sales to an open dataset, or via email to ask a question with regards to your privacy rights), Picovoice may collect your email, name, and any other information it requires to address your request.

In addition to the relevant purposes stated above, where relevant, Picovoice may use this information to address your request, communicate with you, keep records and derive analytics of requests received, and fulfil its accountability requirements. The legal basis for this processing is, as the specific case may be, the performance of a contract between you and Picovoice or pre-contractual measures, Picovoice legal obligations, or Picovoice legitimate interest in streamlining communication with users and third parties.

Who does Picovoice share your personal data with?

Picovoice may share your personal data with our service providers who help us fulfill the purposes described above. We may also share your information with competent authorities for legitimate reasons. If this involves your data being stored or accessed from outside of the EU, we will make sure we implement adequate measures to secure the data transfer, such as a data transfer agreement based on the EU Commission’s model clauses.

How long does Picovoice keep your information for?

We keep your personal data for various periods of time depending on the type of data and the purpose of their collection, but as a general rule we will store your information for no longer than is necessary to fulfill the purposes described above, any retention period required by law, and for the applicable statute of limitations period thereafter.

How is your personal data protected?

We make sure your personal data are protected through adequate organisational and technical security measures. We apply physical and logical security measures internally, and our servers are subscribed from the most established cloud providers and protected through state of the art security measures 

Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to take the necessary actions.

Your Rights

You have the right to Contact Sales, rectify or erase your personal data or to restrict the processing of your personal data, or to object to the processing, as well as the right to data portability, each under the conditions laid out in detail in the GDPR. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, and to give us instructions on how to handle your personal data in the event of your death.

If you have an account on one of Picovoice Websites, you may access, update and delete your personal data, or toggle your device analytics and heartbeat options, in your Account Settings.
